Today I launched The DUD Visual Journal on Instagram, with the intention of having a visual catalog of Resistance, submitted by anyone who wants to. It’s important to highlight what people are doing, from small actions like reading a book written by a POC, to larger actions like protesting at airports. It all matters. If the answer to “would this picture piss off POTUS?” then send it my way.
Today’s picture is the statement from the Department of Homeland Security, declaring their intention to suspend the implementation of POTUS’ illegal and bigoted travel ban. This is a victory, for the detained and deported, the airport protesters, the amazing lawyers who fought back, the judges who have halted it, and those Resisting.
Today was relatively quiet! Weekends have become a nice reprieve.
Vincent Viola, his pick for Secretary of the Army, withdrew from nomination today, citing business conflicts as the primary reason. Speaking of business, new records have emerged showing that POTUS is still closely tied to his business empire, primarily because the people in charge of his assets are his eldest son and chief financial officer.
The DOJ filed an appeal to reinstate POTUS’ illegal immigration ban, which was stymied yesterday by a federal judge’s order. In the meantime, travelers from the banned countries are allowed in the U.S. again, giving relief to at least some of the hundreds of thousands effected.
And finally, a group that I hadn’t even considered being effected by POTUS’ regime: Animals. The Department of Agriculture (DoA) removed animal welfare information from its website today, including records of enforcement actions against those who have violated the Animal Welfare Act.
